Help with selecting a bearded dragon!

mike7934 Sep 27, 2003 03:29 PM

Hi, i'm looking to buy a bearded dragon next sunday at the reptile show in pittsburgh. I know there are alot of different moprhs from yellow, sandfire, red, and so on. I wanted to get a bearded dragon with really nice colors, and that dosen't get darker with age. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

Mike.

Get one you like. Beauty is all in the eye of the beholder. Just because I like light orange, or contrasting colors, does not mean that you or anyone else would like them. Someone my pay $250. for one that someone else wouldn't pay $5. for & so on.
Pick something you will like & you can't go wrong!.

Good luck.

It's also really hard to tell what color they will be as they grow. Mine started out as a "standard" color, but as she's grown she's got a lot more orange in her and even some bright green on the bottom of her shoulders. Also, she can be very dark now, and in an hour she can be very bright. But you should just pick one whose colors you like.

you. If you get one that is healthy and wants to belong with you, you will have the most beautiful dragons ever. It will be content and display nice colors because it is a happy dragon.

I have several, but the one that stole my heart was a bland graphite color that insisted on running up my arm each time I tried to pick up the baby I thought I wanted. I picked her off my arm and put her back with the others and she would run back up my arm or finally just sat on a branch looking at me as I discussed the pretty gold color one I wanted with the breeder. I looked back and she was there watching with a look on her face that said "what, are you dumb or what?" then turned her back on the scene. I handed back the gold one and 3 week old Sandy went home with me, over a year later, she still has more attitude and personality than any beardy we have ever had seen. I never thought I could love an animal so much. She topped it off by shedding into a brilliant bright gold with lavender sides, she knew what I wanted, better than me!
