If you use the oil filled heaters, then get ready for a pretty good jump in your electricity bill. We have some and they make the bill go up by at least two hundred bucks during the winter. I prefer the baseboard type electric heaters, or the radient type with or without a fan on the unit. A fan will help to circulate the air in the room though so you reduce the risk of hot spots. Hope this helps.

I use one in a small, second floor bedroom here in N.C. I use the lowest setting, and am able to keep the room at 77-79 degrees. The power bill has gone up slightly. Hope this helps, Gary.
I use my oil-filled for the same purpose as you; to keep a 79 degree room warm.
I keep it on for 12 hours a day, and turn it off at night.
When it's on, it's only on half the time, so 6 hours a day really.
I pay ~8 cents per kWh here, so it works out to be an extra $7 a month.
