Names with Faces

Sunherp Jan 21, 2011 11:49 AM

Yep, folks! It's that time of year - Names with Faces time!

I strongly feel that this helps us develop a sense of community and goes a long way in maintaining civil dialog between us, and I for one, really enjoy it. Just knowing that there's a real person behind the screen name makes a difference. Things have been pretty calm around here the last few weeks, so I think this is the perfect time to get this rolling. So, boys and girls, let's see who you are!

I'll go first. As some of you know, I was married this past Spring to a wonderful (and um... tolerant...) woman.

This photo of me at work has been posted before.

My buddies Dell and "Jose Ole".

Another of Dell with a cigar and some awesome gloves.

A redeeming photo of Dell with a nice fish.

Jeff Hardwick photographing a lush valley in the Bighorn Basin desert after a day of milk hunting.

Myself, a milk, and Dell's dog Bob's rear end.

A classic one of me, a trout, and a sombrero.

LOL!!,..that is some fabulous stuff there Cole! Dell's "cool" gloves no doubt give him an extra fraction of a second to "fool" the snakes into thinking they are natural parts of the surrounding terrain..

And a big congratulations on your marriage too my friend!

Here is a glassy-eyed photo of me with a nice Largemouth Bass a few years ago. Sorry I don't have any more recent photos, but I only use my camera for taking pics of snakes, and once in a while some fish..LOL!

And me with Bill Haast around 1998....yeah, I'm the one with the freakin "Lampropeltis" shirt..LMAO!!

Nice photo with Bill Haast. Wish I had gotten one. I do have an autographed copy of his book, Cobras In His Garden which I got when visiting the Serpentarium back in 1972. Neat, with him turning a hundred.

Ha ha! It's just a pair of Crested Geckos that live on my desk. They're pretty cool animals, though. I like 'em and they're super easy to care for.

All right I'll play along but just so you know I hate having my pic taken.

Here's me much younger, thinner with lots less gray.

This is not a good one but it's me and current.

Yep I've pretty much always had a beard for the last 35 years.

I've had mine pretty much constantly for the last 10 years, but it's generally kept short. I can only let mine grow so long before I get my phone tapped and start having the "Man" follow me around. LOL

I had a lot of that in the 70's and 80's not so much anymore. Maybe it's the gray in the beard. LOL

and if Nate is looking he'll probably have an even harder time believing it but... since my daughter sneaked a photo of me with my grand daughter last fathers day... despite knowing I hate to be photographed... I may as well put it to some use... probably only one of two photos of my skinny a$$ed self I know haven been taken in the last ten years.

-Cole

gerryg Jan 21, 2011 05:01 PM

A little more than two now... old enough enough to chastise me for letting the yard get in such a state of disrepair... as you can see from the tools in her hand she's ready to tackle the problem though I did tell her the ferns in front of the kayak were off limits!

Gerry

Here's a picture of me with a boa I no longer own. Had him for 16 years.

Sweet, Dennis! Nice looking Boa, man. I sometimes feel a twinge of regret over gettin rid of mine years ago. They're just such cool animals.

How, despite my following all the posts you've made in Field Notes, did I miss the fact you had a daughter? I'd guess a niece if it weren't for the fact she has daddy's little girl written all over her.

Specially by these twoooo!!!!

Then I found this little guy

Here's me getting a little frustration out on a poor pinata!

And then there is the J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets, lost my voice for 3 days I have it back just in time for Sunday! Only to loose it again.

Nice topic!

I've been teaching a Community Wildlife Drawing class for kids for 16 years.
Here's last year's class on "Underwater Day."

I also do volunteer work with high school students - an Eastern Hognose from Delmarva Peninsula (one of two found that day).

Stinkpot in Kentucky.

I get a kick out of when field herpers try to slip in a few fishing photos...so I will do the same.

Lake Erie last summer:
