Albino San Diego Gopher?

RSedgwick Jan 22, 2011 10:30 AM

I see albino San Diego Gophers for sale that are not listed as Applegate. What is the difference? Is there a different strain? The pics look the same. What is the difference? What should you look for? Any information from those of you who know, would be appreciated.

Well they are several bloodlines of albino. Applegate and Bechtel.
The linburg line maybe the same as the Bechtel line?

I have seen red eyed individual come out of clutches of Dyers and McGurty T+ Albino

There are several different names for the same bloodlines of Albinos and to make it more difficult some non combat-able bloodlines have been crossed into each other.

Some of these bloodline are combat-able like McGurty X Applegate and Dyer X Bechtel. Which results in light red eyed and dark ruby eyed individuals from the same clutch.

It is hard to distinguish these albino bloodlines visually.

My advice is to buy from someone reputable and passionate about the animals. That keeps track of bloodlines.

Thanks for the reply. Wow the two in the pic you posted were awesome. Applegate strain? Anyone raising high red normal annectens, like those posted by Lloyd Lemke on Patrick Brigg's "Pituophis Web Page"?

Thanks, Robert Sedgwick
