I use outdoor seem to give off more heat. Stay away from the ones with clear like hexagon shape in middle. That clear area gets hotter then the rest and will cause burns.

cause burns by indirect contact or direct contact?
He will either get burned by the bulb or the screen covering the bulb. I know from experience. I stay away from those bulbs they sell in pet stores. Not good for monitors maybe other species but not monitors. I like the heat to be even as possible with no super hot spots. I use 50 wat bulbs but I don't know your situation.
Obviously any bulb will burn with direct contact and the ones with clear centers will burn with no contact. Never use screens or wires between bulb and cage you want the bulbs in the cage. Monitors will grab onto screen and burn themselves if temps are correct monitor will not touch the bulb....

Those with the clear center dont produce a brighter spot, if you look at them they are still fogged over just smaller bits to create the effect. Ive used them for years, I get whichever show up when I order the bulbs. Just use flood bulbs, keep in mind I only use 45 watt outdoor flood bulbs, 75 watt would be much hotter. I mount a few 45 watt bulbs over a foot from plywood basking spots and get evenly heated 146f basking spots with an almost 7ft white throated monitor, and a 4ft flaviargus (sometimes he only has one bulb). Depends on how efficient your cages are as to how much wattage you need. Keep in mind the more heat you need in a smaller area, the hotter, the drier it is, the faster moisture leaves your cages (convection).
Are you talking about these bulbs? I don't really care for them myself.

No, just normal inexpensive quartz halogen outdoor flood bulbs that any hardware store sells. Thats all I use, the pet bulbs are overpriced, underpowered, and inefficient. All I use is 45 watt bulbs only.
Yeah I've learned to stay away from alot of the pet store stuff when it comes to bulbs.
All we use are outdoor floods, they hold up better, a little beefier then the indoor and dont crack if water splashes them. I would take the floods over the spots to avoid a narrow beam that can cause burns.
