Black milksnake enclosure size?

joann42 Jan 24, 2011 07:58 AM

So those of you that have an adult black milksnake. How active are they really? Im getting ready to upgrade cages and I need an idea of what size cage to build for him.So they make a nice display snake??? Right now he is a yearling and still small and I find hes not that active. He is kept in a bin with eco earth so its hard to tell really.
A nice display type cage would be nice but not if this snake is going to stay hidden most the time. Then I will just build him a cage he can hide away in.
Out of all my snakes there are only two that are active and thats the jcp and the cornsnake. The rest tend to stay hidden. So I might just build display type cages for those two and keep the rest in bins or stackables.
I dont have the room to build displays for all the snakes so just want a couple to put in the livingroom in fancy planted cages.

Black Milks area big impressive snakes, but they aren't the sort of snake that lays out in the open. Like most snakes, given a chance to hide, they will.

I kept my adults separately in drawer enclosures that were approximately 27 x 33 x 8 inches.

Thanks I appreciate the answer.I will probably keep him in a tub then and use something else for a display.
