female behavior

hollywood_balls Jan 24, 2011 11:56 PM

i have a female spider who's around 1300 grams. She's never been bred, but recently she's been laying inverted(on her back). Just wondering if that is normal behavior. i heard that females that are building follicles and/or ovulating behave that way, but my spider female has never been bred.

Put her with a male. The worst that can happen is nothing. Just feed her a lot and see if you can get a few hundred more grams on her.

Oh heck yeah put her with a male pronto!! I wish I had a female spider that big!!! I know she can still grow some and should before breeding but mine seem to be ravenous right now!! V/R Paige

Tho laying inverted and bowl wrapping are cues in the breeding cycle - males and females will also lay inverted and bowl wrap to cool themselves.
