skin disease?

eyeballz Jan 28, 2011 04:25 AM

Hi guys
I have a female who has recently started to get ugly marks on her skin.
She has recently stopped eating but works perfectly in every other way.
I have a male who has the exact same setup as she and he are doing well.
The only thing new i have introduced is spagnum moss in a box.
Anyone know what this might be?
Thanks in advance.

May be Blister Disease caused by high humidity or dampness. Take out spagnum and box. Put in dry paper towels. Make sure you have a lot of air holes in cage. Mike

I would think it would be moisture related. Like he said, remove the moss and make sure there is plenty of airation. I would suggest removing it from the other cage as well, just to be safe.

I keep a bowl of fresh water in my cages, and mist the cages every so often. This seems to be adequate from a moisture perspective. When the snakes shed they don't ever have problems.

The hogs won't need any moisture(don't mist) .......You may be able to put something on the area like Neosporin but I'm not sure. Maybe others can chime in.....Mike
