when and animal is het it has one recessive gene for a recessive trait.

A double het is an animal that has 2 seperate recessive genes for 2 recessive traits.

I may be wrong about this but I think that there are 2 traits that cause snow in corns just as there are multiple traits that cause BEL in BPs. A double het for snow means that it carries genes for both traits that cause snow. This snake can produce snow offspring with both kinds of snow or either het.

hope this helps

A normal-looking snake cannot be het for snow, because snow is the expression of two recessive traits (anerythristic and albino). If it is carrying both these traits it's a double het.

If someone has an albino snake that is carrying the anerythristic trait recessively, than that snake is het for anerythristic. If the snake was bred to a snow, 50% of the offspring would be snows - therefore this snake could be marketed as "het for snow."

The same thing would be true of an anerythristic snake that is het for albino. It is het for snow when bred to a snow.

I hatched out the clutch below by breeding a snow male Honduran to an albino that is het for anerythristic (which is the same as het for snow when bred to a snow).

for amel and anery. A normal corn bred to snow produces babies het for anery and amel, or snow. These normal double hets will produce snows when bred to a snow, an amel het anery, or anery het amel.
