Does anyone incubate at 87?

geckobabies Jan 28, 2011 05:12 PM

Hi!

Does anyone incubate their ball python eggs at 87? I know it's typically higher, but was just curious if anyone has had success at that temperature.

Thanks!

I incubate at 87-87.5*. Babies normally start pipping around day 59-61.

Good luck with what ever you decide!

I didn't breed many females last year but out of 23 eggs, 1 had an issue. Its umbilical cord was wrapped, and I didn't catch it in time. No deformities. Sometimes things happen reguardless.

i cook low and slow. i have had 100% hatch rate at 86-87. i try to keep at 87 but there is always fluctuation. i used to cook at 89 but just started lowering and found i dont get mold on eggs and have great success. aim for 87-88 and you should be fine. be aware that it takes a few days longer than the alotted 60 days most people expect. most of mine pip at 63 days. good luck.

I incubated my eggs last year at 87.8. There was probably a .5 degree or so fluctuation, but the eggs hatched out just fine at day 58 or so.
