Insulation

zippy00_99 Jan 29, 2011 06:16 PM

Has anyone (not caring about what their snake room looks like) used that silver stuff that is about 1/2 inch thick and (I would assume using tape or something sticky) covered your wall all the way around to save on heating costs via the 1500W oil heater?

We use the insulation directly on our racks to maintain a more stable hotspot and lower our heating bills. Our room is already pretty well insulated. We love working with those insulation boards. Easy to cut, lightweight, somewhat durable, limitless possibilities.

I put them under my racks to insulate the bottom unit from the floor.

look at the "PINK" website for ideas....

there are different types of insulation you can use...some are made for their beautification factor even...

and even styrofoam sheeting comes in colors....3/4 inch to 2 inch thicknesses also...

....then there is paint.......

...good luck....

I think he is refering to this one ?

Honestly, I used those bubble foam for my first incubator. Worked great, even too great. The fans (who are low wattage) are enough to heat the incubator at 89 or nearly, the herpstat going between 0-10 (also used a bit more flexwatt that I should have).

The only thing with those is that they are CONDUCTIVE, meaning easy to make an electric short. I wouldn't use it directly like that, I would put something in front of it.
