RIP Yellow

Here is a lot of photos of a project i had been working on. Sadly yesterday this snake had to be put down. It was my first loss, and to be honest, it probably should have been done sooner. But i was hanging on to the snake recovering. Making the choice to euthanize such a unique animal was hard. As a snake mate here has said countless times though, my snakes, my responsibility. I still have 1.3 animals associated with this project, with a pair breeding at the moment. Hopefully i can produce another one that looks half as good, sometime in the future.

cheers

Oh no! I was looking forward to seeing how that project panned out. I've lost a couple nice project animals too, but never had to make the decision for one... must have been really hard to do. At least you still have some related animals.

So sorry for your loss Dave.

Thank you for posting as I believe some people do not get it that breeding snakes is not all fun and games.

I am curious as to what everyone does with their snakes whom have passed on? specialy if you have larger snakes? toss in garbage? take to vet for disposal? bury in yard or garden? or what?

I had a green iguana "Einstein" from about the time I was 7 yrs old till I was like 15. Einstein got HUGE and was a lot of fun to have but unfortunately he passed on so at that point I had a nice burial in the woods behind my house for him. (though to be completely honest, I imagine a raccoon or possum probably dug him up and had a nice meal).

I think that vet disposal is also a very easy and good option and I also think that people who just toss them in the garbage can potentially give our hobby a bad name.
