Help! Injured Garter Snake.

cranataw Sep 27, 2003 07:26 PM

Apparently I dropped a landscape timber on a Garter snake (8 inches), two days ago, that was resting under the pile. There was a little blood around his mouth when I found him but none since. He lifts his head but holds it a 45 degree angle and twirls like an Alligator. I see no signs of damage to his body or head. I have him in a bed or dry leaves and vegetation and a shallow tray of water. Did I hit him or is this some kind of Garter Snake disease? Also, what should I do to help him get better?

I think that gerter snake is cerebral obstacle or backborn fracture. If it is exogenism, you might find fracture and subsidence. But we cannot decide exogenism problem without X rays, so difficult to treat... First of all, you may be careful his dehydration.
I'm sorry to have been able to tell nothing. Good luck.
