Curious

Does anyone have any plants in their snake room? I am unable to ventilate my snake room in the winter because I have plastic over the window for much needed insulation purposes. I was wondering if having plants in the snake room would increase my balls livelihood or quality of life? I mean, they breath oxygen right? which means that they exhale carbon dioxide right? I am very intrigued by this idea! I have been looking at the heart leaf philodendron, but I am not sure if the high temps and the high humidity in my snake room would be optimal for it to thrive. I have also thought about getting a 20 gallon tank for my snake room and putting water in it and growing algae. Algae is one of the best producers of oxygen in water and the philodendron is one of the best at producing oxygen on land.

I am looking for ANY knowledge or ideas from EVERYONE. Please let me know what you have seen, herd of, have done yourself, or anything along this line.

Thanks

well unless that room is totally airtight i wouldnt worry about the amount of oxygen in the room. also i doubt a few house plants would produce enough to even measure. however, they will up your humidity, which could be a good thing

Tropical plants LOVE the heat and humidity. They will add ambiance and do more for you than the BPs. Consider lighting though, if you have low to moderate light- go for a broad leaf species like a mass cane or janet craig. I have a chinese palm in my snake room that has adapted to lower lighting, and it's insanely big! Makes the room look more like a jungle
I think I read that NASA did a study, and ranked O2 producing plants, and that broader leaved tropicals were higher........ just something I remember, but cant back up.
