question about feeding and breeding.

hollywood_balls Feb 04, 2011 03:44 AM

I'm new at breeding and glad to say that I am in the thick of my first breeding season. I have my breeder males and females in one rack and I know its common for bps, that are breeding, to go off feed, but my question is, is it common for other bps(adult females and males 500 grams and over who are not being paired or bred) housed in a rack next to the breeders' rack, to go off feed as well?

I'm a little concerned. just need a little insight on this issue and what I can do to get the bps, not intended to be bred this season, to start feeding again.

any feedback would help. thanks.

Very common! Don't sweat it!

yes that is perfectly normal. Love is in the air for others to smell, for a lack of better words.

After all my girls lay, I find it important to COMPLETELY clean and bleach ALL the "breeder" animals cages immediately. This will remove that "love" sent and everyone SHOULD get back to eating.

Good luck.

balls can and will go off feed from 85 grams to 6000 grams....

and they don't care what time of year or sex they are...

balls are balls...

....they eat ,,,feed,,,they breed,,,breed,,,,eggs will come...they will grow....they stop eating too young and too many times...sell them or give them away...(they probably aren't big enough to eat or make boots from anyways)
