Melinus, who here is working with these?

RoadSpawn Feb 05, 2011 12:43 PM

Here are my two Melinus monitors. Anyone on here working with these monitors? Share your observations and any information you may have. Thanks

Mine: They are active during 6:00 am- 11:00 am. Feeding on adult mice. Basking 140, warm end 96 and cool end 73. Multiple hides and lots of branches.

Those are great looking animals, I've been putting some thought into getting them actually. What would you say there temperament is? Can you handle them, or are they pretty nervous? I'm looking more for an animal that won't run and hide when I'm looking at them and allow me to at least be in the cage without freaking out too much, I don't need anything that would be considered "tame", which is a word I hate using for any reptiles. Also, are yours CB or WC? And if you have experience with both, do you see any difference in there temperament? Also, what size is your cage?

Thanks and again good animals.

I have 5 Melinus and if you dont want something that hides, then these may not be the ones for you. Most of time, they are reclusive. They are however, not aggressive in nature and seem not to have a instinctual fear of people.

Im happy to share my experiences so far with anyone who is also working with them.
