a question for experts

just a quick question. if a corn is gravid with eggs and already bred will she breed again? i ask because i paired 1 of my females up with a male on 1/11/11. i seen signs of a possible lock up and she has not ate since 1/15/11. i offer her meals weekly but she seems not interested. like i said i was unsure of the lock up so i put them back together yesterday and visually seen a lockup. now she has not shed in 2011 but when i put a lay box in her tub 2 weeks ago she doesnt seem to leave it much? i was just curious what some of you experts my make of this? thank you

Are you sure she was gravid and not ovulating?
she may have been refusing food because breeding was the most dominant force driving her at the time. give her a few days and try feeding her again but this time drop down in prey size..try a small hopper or fuzzy and see if this may spark her appetite.

A snake going in an egglaying box doesn't mean anything. Many snakes will use an egglaying box as a "humidity chamber" - especially in the winter when the forced hot air used to heat homes takes humidity out of the environment.

A snake not eating four days after breeding doesn't mean anything in relation to being gravid. Gravid snakes often feed heavily (twice a week) until two to three weeks prior to egglaying (which usually happens six weeks after a successful breeding).

Female Corn Snakes usually shed twice before egglaying. One is a "pre-breeding shed" and the other is a shed about 10 days before laying eggs. If your snake has not shed yet this year, it is nowhere near ready to lay eggs.

A female will often mate several times with a male early in the breeding season, but less often as she becomes closer to depositing eggs.
