Isis Retiles phish?

Upscale Feb 07, 2011 07:58 AM

Just had this show up in my in box, I have ordered snakes from Isis in the past, so don’t know if someone has hacked their email or bought their domain or what. Somebody either pass the word that this is a scam or send money to help them out, not sure which?

Hello there
I'm sorry for this odd request because it might get to you too urgent but it's because of the situation of things right now,I'm stuck Scotland with family right now, we came down here on family vacation, we were robbed, worse of it is that bags, cash and cards and our cell phone were stolen at GUN POINT,and it's hard to get hold of a phone here in Scotland it's such a crazy experience for us, we need help flying back home, the authorities are not being 100% supportive but the good thing is we still have our passport but don't have enough money to get our flight ticket back home, please i need you to loan us some money, will refund you as soon as we are back home, i promise.

Thanks.
Isis

Forgot to include, this email was from Isis Madec isisreptiles@aol.com to me, not “undisclosed recipients”. And, whatever this is, I would add that the ghost Brooks kings I got from Isis back in the day were fantastic. Just curious if anybody else got an email like this?

RinL Feb 07, 2011 08:19 AM

Scam. I received the same request from my cousin who was stuck in London and needed me to send money. However, he was sitting next to me when the email arrived.

I got it too, and initially, I did not realize it was ISIS Reptiles, and so I thought it was a scam. Glad I didn't reply back "Sucks to be you", like I almost did. Anybody know for sure or have heard from Isis directly? I'd like to help out...that is a BAD situation for anybody to be in.

I reported this as spam.
My brother once got robbed in Cambodia and had to have us send him money, but he called on the phone, so we knew it was him.

I got one last year with similar wording, though not from Isis. It was from a local naturalist who I occasionally e-mail.

"because it might get to you too urgent"

You can tell from the wording this is a Nigerian scam.

Yeah, As soon as I read that, .......INSTANT Red flags of a typical Nigerian Scam!!

They could scam people out of WAAAY more money if those idiot's didn't always type in broken-English and use non-existent phrases!. If they were smart, they would put just a tad of that scam money they make to learning the English language better, and learn how to phrase things better..LOL!

FREAKIN SOB''s!!!

And usually, NOTHING is ever done about these international internet scams. They almost always get away with it.

Some people do something about it.

I received something similar sent to me from Joe Bernardo a couple weeks ago. I contacted Joe and he had no idea what I was talking about.

Apparently there is some new virus/hacker crap going on that makes it appear these are legitimate emails from peeps we know. Even if you look at the details of the sending email addy it all appears legit.

Be careful what emails you open if you receive one from a past ad you may have replied to or bought from.

I had corresponded with Isis recently, so was on the list of their contacts that got hacked. This must have been from an aol.com account. Anybody that has an aol.com account maybe should be extra wary.

Anyone who would send money to a scam like this without first verifying that this is actually your friend in need, (even most remote Africa has cell phones) is in my opinion not the sharpest knife in the drawer. There's a sucker born every minute and ten to take his money.

Isis here. Definitely a scam. Someone hacked into our email and sent this to apparently everyone on our address list. We've been getting frantic calls and emails from friends, customers and even a couple of estranged relatives. We're fine. We're here in Southern California and never left. Thank you to everyone for your concern.

Certainly didn’t mean to cause you any embarrassment or anything, I hope you appreciate me wanting to post it here so you would find out about it and post something like you have. Sorry that happened to you. Wish the mf’ers could be fried.
