Does my setup look ok?

yodaky Sep 27, 2003 08:46 PM

Below is an attempt to display a picture of my tank setup. I just replaced the food dish with a see through glass ash tray and within 2 minutes more than half the worms in it were gone. I think the gecko might have been hungry I never thought I would be sooo excited to see something eat a freagin' worm. There was a coconut shell "half-way" on the UTH and I removed it to put in the see through rubbermaid container to actually make it a humid hide. I was kinda warry of putting damp towels on top of the paper towel substrate. MY question is will this be sufficient for the gecko to "hide"? Also, when the ordinary 60w light bulb comes on overhead at 7am tomorrow, should that be ok? (thats if the geco decides to hide there) Thanx.

i cant see your set up but make sure the humid hide box is over a heat pad or heat tape to supply heat while the gecko hides and when you turn the light off at night

I leave a UTH going 24/7. The thing that worried me was that the new hide is completely over the UTH and the light is pointed in that direction also. Sorry about the picture. I dont know what is wrong, but maybe this link will do it

there are afew things lol. first off i guess is the halfed and hollowed log for use as a hide. then there is a little plastic dish for water. then a glass ash tray for the mealies. and finally there is a little snapple cap with calcium and D3 in it. so the light shining through the humid hide should be ok? incase you are wondering, yes i am a worry-wort

Your not a worry wort, just a concerned owner.
I'm wondering just how important it is to have the extra cup of minerals if the food items are gut loaded and sprinkled with calcium powder, does anyone know the answer to this?

actually, at this moment there isnt a supplement in the food dish. i already had planned to add some in there tonight when i go to bed. there was a little in the other dish i had but it seemed the mealies were burrowing in it so i removed some and when i put the ash tray in, at first i decided not to give them a chance to burrow. to offset that i just put the supplement in a different container. BUT i will be sprinkling a small amount in the ash tray anyway. i just want my gecko to do eat well and not overheat lol
