Test shot

Tony D Feb 11, 2011 08:15 AM

Was working with my neonates last night. First trying to find easier ways to get still shots and then onto sexing them.

Here is one of the shots. The dust you see ont he pink is a slight amount of RepCal. I put the dime in the photo for size reference which I'm thinking of doing with all my add photos. Given the rep (underserved) that these guys have a picture of them eating might not be a bad idea either. Any thoughts.

When sexing them I found all but one to be inconclusive, which happens every now and then when they are still small. Guess I'll have to wait another month or so and try again.

Cool shot Tony!,.....

Yeah, I agree. Ad pics of the temps voluntarily feeding is not a bad idea at all in my opinion.

Those little guys make a two-day old pink seem like an Anaconda eating a huge capybara..LMAO!!

It takes awhile to even get them to that point Doug. These guys are by no means hard to get started but they do take some time and TLC.

Nice shot Tony, I'd say you passed the test! I think the size reference is a great addition to the photo for advertizing.

Just curious, do you pop or probe those little worms?

Joe I do a combo of both. I pop first, if it pops male I'm done, if female I verify with a probe. In this case things were somewhat inconclusive. Sometimes females will pop a little but the structure has no viens. When this happens I generally like to wait another month or so when their overall tone has improved before I verify with the probes. Don't want to injure one of them by attempting to probe when they're too small.
