l.t.gaigae ???

Hi guys,Can anyone tell me if all gaigae turn totally black.I'm having this discusion with someone here in england.I have black milk's but you can just see a hint of pattern.Is it the san antonio line that is black.Do wild caught gaigae display some banding.Hope you guys can help.

Not all gaigeae will become completely black... below is a link to a web site that shows gaigeae from the Miramar local of Costa Rica... gaigeae from other locals such as Puerto Limon do become completely black. If I recall correctly most of the gaigeae found in Europe are from the Miramar local and there fore will retain varying amounts of banding into adult hood.

The link includes pictures of typical specimens from the Miramar local... you have to scroll down about halfway through the species list on the left hand side of the screen.
