Anyone breeding these or know anyone breeding them? There were few around 10 years ago and I had 2 pairs. I loaned them out to an (ex)friend who sold them behind my back and I have no idea where they went. Anyway, I'm looking to aquire more. Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

Hi Paul. I think it would be really cool if you found some. Locality cal kings are among my favorite snakes, I like some of them almost as much as I like zonatas and graybands, so I do like to see other people working with them.. I can't help you on the San Matias unfortunately. I do remember seeing an awesome normal 'conjuncta' at the San Diego reptile show 3 or 4 years ago. This thing was probably the nicest jet black and bone white cal king I've seen. It had real thin white too. Until then I didn't know that the regular black and whites occured side by side with the hypermelanistic 'nitida' and 'conjuncta' forms.
The only reason I bring this up is because if you cannot find the San Matias kings you might still be able to find those "normal conjuncta".

D Mong,

For a second I was like sweet!! Then I was was "wait a minute! Jerry pretty much only works with zonata. That makes two of us. I just happen to like Cal Kings. And a ton of other stuff
lol!!!

Aaron,

I've caught both San Matias as well as all forms of conjuncta and nitida in high numbers. I could never get in to the southern baja kings. It cost to much to get them imported legally in the U.S. and smuggling is out of the question. I keep a small locality collection of californiae and the San Matias were probally most awesome locale I had. I really miss them. They're very unique. Black as night and bone white, wide bands with a very low band count. There's got to be someone out there with them.

LOL!!,..yeah, sorry about bursting the bubble there. You might try contacting Shannon Brown though. I know he has a freakin BOAT-LOAD of different locality californiae, and if he doesn't have that specific locale himself, he might possibly know who does.

Good luck finding those guys!

If there is we sure would like to get some more Mexican reptiles into the nation.......

There are several offices in Mexico where to buy a permit to collect. Depends on where you go. It can be fairy cheap or expensive. The Mexican government does not care about reptiles. The U.S. is the problem. USFWS does not issue import permits from MX unless your a zoo or involved with a scientific institute. Many contries in Europe accept the MX herps. That's how the europeans have all the crotes and importers in the U.S. get them. So in plain english, you buy the MX permit, send them to someone you know in Europe and have them send them to you. For Cal Kings that is just too much.

I actually have some awesome conjuncta but no exact locality on them. But they are the blackest and whitests snakes I've ever had. I like locale getula myself, and have just a pair of these conjuncta. But the San matias ones.....can't say i've ever even seen one. Got a photo?? Sounds bad-ass...
