I need info on UVB bulbs and so on.

I got some bearded dragons about a week ago. I had the repti sun 5.0 bulb, but have not found a fixture that it will work in. I have gotton 4 of the fixtures now and two bulbs and just can not get them to work! Any way, they have been with out UVB for a week and I was getting worried so I took the active uv heat bulb from one of my frilleds and put it on one cage and a small repti sun on my two of my other cages, but have the 4th cage with out uvb.

The questions start here:

1. If you have a repti-sun 5.0 bulb on for 12 hours, how long do the active uv heat bulbs need to be on to give the dragons the same amount of uvb?

2. Do the T-rex solor uvb drops work?

3. What is the "right size" cage for a singel 3 month old bearded? How about two or three?

1. That would depend on how old the bulbs are, the distance etc. I would leave it on for the full 12 hrs. Why cut it shorter?

2. I don't believe anything can replace UVB. It would be fine to supplement but don't try to replace it with drops.

3. Caging depends on size. One 3 month old dragon my be 8" another my be 15" A 20L tank would be fine for a single one. You might want a 30 to 40 breeder for 2 or 3 of that size. 2 or 3 dragons will out grow those though & you'll need to go with a 75 or bigger.
(many people have different views on this subject so please gather as many as you can and try to find what works for you)

I agree with leaving the light on for that long too. No bulb actually produces anywhere near what the sun produces, so the more the merrier. Oh and look at the box the light came in, it should say what length and wattage you have. You can get them at Wal-mart or hardware stores.
