Keeping together

SinHarvest Sep 27, 2003 10:33 PM

well hi all,
I currently have a fully grown High Yellow Leopard Gecko. My local pet shop has recently got in Pakistan Leopard Geckos. i was wondering if i separate the baby Pakistan until it is fully grown if i could house the two together.

also, is there a law about the size of geckos when they are sold becuz usually u see them being sold with a fat tail and about 4-6 inches long. these pakistans are only about 3 and a half inches long and their tails are EXTREMELY thin. they have no fat in them at all.

thanx for all the help!

Leopard geckos originate from that area of the world, so the leo you bought is probably just a regular old leopard gecko and someone is trying to make it sound special. The only reason I could think of for anyone to call your leo a Pakistan Leopard Gecko would be if it was imported, and since it sounds relatively young, I doubt that is the case. So to answer your question, yes, when your new one gets old enough you should be able to house him with your current gecko. Just make sure they are both healthy so that one doesn't make the other sick.

I don't think there are any laws on size of leopard geckos sold, if there it it is probably by state, I am pretty sure there are no laws like that in CA at least. Petco here sells hatchlings. Sounds like that gecko is a hatchling. Hatchlings don't have fat tails yet.

However many individual breeders have their own standards about when they will sell and when they will ship leopard geckos.

leos are form the Pakistan area. There is a chienese leopard gecko their tails stay thin compared to leos or fat tails. I would keep them apart until they get bigger. You should not really keep two different species together just for sanitary and stress reasons.
