Mad female?

Kylegep Feb 17, 2011 04:15 PM

I have a female about 1500 grams, and I was wondering if anyone's BP hiss at them during the breeding season? I have not introduced a male to her but she recently became a little grump. This normal?

Most of my ball pythons hiss at me.

Imagine you're worried that everything that movies wants to eat you, and something A LOT bigger than you rips open your hide (be it a hide box, tub, tank whatever) and picks you up.

What would your response be?

I have a female that I was moving around this morning who never hisses, but was a little steam engine today. No other aggression, and once she "recognized" me she settled down just fine. I think I might have caught her asleep in her tub. It happens.

I actually have one that kind of head butted my hand last night?? She didn't open her mouth or anything but I think she was pissed that I didn't have a rat for her.

I was cleaning out her tub. But she is very food aggressive (meaning she snatches it off the tongs before I can even get it in her tub) A few of my snakes have taken to hissing at me lately too. Must be the breeding thing. I guess that is kind of a good thing.

Happy Breeding!!!!

I love those kinds Especially if, once they realize it is not feeding time, you can easily take them out of their tubs and handle them.

I don't have a mad female, but I have a big normal male (2071 grams)who is about 14 years old that looks like he's gone completly crazy this breding season.
I had him with a pastel female for some time and they mated a few times. I separated them and he went crazy, trashing his box and bucking up threatening to open the lid. I put him back with the female and he quieted down.
They had been mating practically every day since 2/9/11 until a couple of days ago when I separated them again. He escaped from his box (the lid has locks)overnight. I found him in the snake room and put him back in his box. I taped the lid to the box and he was still pushing up and trashing around. I had to move him out of the room and he finally calmed down...
Looks like overacting hormones from this old boy!
