HB 251 Texas, Hilderbran get it?

ralphaldis Feb 20, 2011 12:39 AM

A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the regulation of dangerous wild animals.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 822.102(a), Health and Safety Code, is amended to read as follows:

I did not place all the text here. You can go to this link and download the text of the bill in which ever format you can access.

You guessed it, the devil himself is back at work and only the second bill he has filed this legislative session was to address the issue of regulating the ownership of dangerous wild animals. It’s hard to imagine the kind of money that changed hands to get this bill drafted and pushed up as almost the first bill one would file as a state priority to increase the growth in government. Let your local Tea Party know and legislative representative know your opinion. I certainly will consider directing a complaint to the my local FBI office in San Antonio, 5740 University Heights, San Antonio, TX 78249, Phone: (210) 225-6741, Fax: (210) 650-6153, E-mail: SanAntonio@ic.fbi.gov for review of a potential public corruption investigation. Who in their right mind would consider such a bill in Texas? Obviously, even the devil considers himself to be a God.

Exactly how is one supposed to know what a "dangerous wild animal" is? I see no instance or reference to where a "dangerous wild animal" is defined in HB 251.

This is a re-vamping of a law already in place. The original text can be found here and includes the definition of 'dangerous animal.'

It does not contain any reptiles *at this time* but you all know how that goes...plus, all we "exotic" keepers need to stick together.

Hilderbrand's introduced revisions would remove the exemption for sanctuaries, rehabbers, etc. It would also increase the registration fees from NO MORE than $500 total to no more than $500 PER ANIMAL, increase space requirements to 2 acres PER ANIMAL (can you see having 2 acres for a serval??) and introduces a provision in which a community can SUE an individual that has a dangerous animal if deemed in violation.

I did notice the points you've mentioned. Did not know they were revisions of previous law. They do seem rather extreme. They will cause the exclusion of many participants and further the demise of the genre...the genre being the NON-TRADITIONAL pet owner/hobbyist...AKA "Exotic" pet owners.

Last I heard, Representative Hilderbran was a REPUBLICAN, so don't give me that..."Republicans are our friends" routine.

They won't hesitate to regulate and legislate out of existence, any human activity that may impinge on their ability to accumulate wealth.

Wonder who's business Hilderbran is doing, anyway? Certainly not the People's business! Notice how the 2 acre exception allows all his cronies to keep their exotics, unaffected. The incarnation of the Devil himself.
Thanks for finding this. So, hows that Roadban legislation reversal coming? lol

HH's tactic is to slide things in at the last minute under the radar. So expect a definition to include your snakes at the last minute. You snake owners need to watch this one. email this proposed bill to every dog group and exotic animal group you know. Own a spider? Snake? Rottweiler? better fight this
