I went to my sons room and he has one egg rightnow in the Malis aquarium. She has quite a few more as the eggs outline is quite clear. What can I do to incubate them properly? I did go to DFF and they are fertile. Thanks!

get a incubator right away. hovabators are the most widely uses. they need to be incubated at around 93 degrees. check out the caresheet on doug dix's website for other incubation information (deerfernfarms.com)

Where can I get one fast? I'm in North Florida. There arent many places open here on Sunday... is there something I can do for the time being to keep them safe and stable?
Thanks!
Kim
Also, at what rate will she lay the remaining eggs?
for the time being you can get an UTH and a retrostat hook up the retrostat to be about 91-93 and put the uth under the eggs, just make sure you put in some egg incubation medium. This shoudl keep them warm for the time being, hopefully you have a uth so its not expensive. But look around at internet sites call them up and just try and find a place that can ship over night to you. Also make a line on the top of the eggs so you do not turn them over causing them to die. so it should be like this:
Container for the eggs
fill the container with egg incubation medium
follow any other instructions on the deerfernfarms.com site
put in the eggs
put them in the incubator at 93 degrees
or sicne you dont have that, put the UTH under the container at around 93 degrees.
I think this will work. but get other opinions also. If there is a farm supply store aroun you they might have egg incubators for chickens and such.
Good luck with the eggs, i do not know at what rate she will lay either. sorry...

UTH? Sorry, not sure what that is, bt I will get one for sure. And what do you reccomend for egg medium? Thanks for your help.I have hatched chickens... I'm sure I can get an incubator like that, but will that be sufficient?
Kimberly
Yes an incubator for chickens if fine for uromastyx eggs as long as the temperature can be steady at 93 degrees. a UTH is an Under Tank Heater, zoomed, and cobra make them, they arent too expensive, plus you can just use it for when they are born for an extra heat source.
good luck.

ok, I have two of them... just didn't click. I also noticed a dip in the egg... like it's sinking in somewhat... what is going on? not enough moisture?
That means that the egg doesn't have enough moisture. In order to hatch these eggs you have to go to deer fern farms and look at the incubation info, there is just too much to tell. Just read all of the incubation info and you will know everything. When you get your incubator make sure they are in something like deli cups with NO holes on the lid. Then very lightly moisten the vermiculite and burry the eggs 3/4 into the vermiculite. NEVER put water on the eggs. For the egg that is dented use a eye droper and put water around the egg not on it. These eggs dont need that much moisture so dont add a lot of water. If you do they will mold. Uro eggs are one of the hardest eggs to hatch because if you dont have enough moisture they will collapse, if you have too much moisture they will mold. I hatched malis eggs and it was kinda hard. I started out with 8 fertile eggs and only 4 hatched and one of the hatchlings shortly died after hatching. at 93 degrees F uro eggs usually hatch in 55-65 days. My eggs took 74-76 days to hatch at 93 degrees so dont be worried if they dont hatch right away. What type of uro eggs are these, and these eggs were laid really late. Everyones eggs stoped hatching about 2 months ago so the females stopped laying eggs about 3 or 4 months ago. Good luck with your eggs, and i have a few pics that should help you out.

1.1.3 maliensis (Spike, Marshmellow, Brown, Green, Orange)
1.3 geyri (Fire, Flame, Sunset, Princess)
0.1 Pit Bull/German Shephard/ Lab/ ect. mix (Kodak) - looks like an over grown toco bell dog.
Thanks Mike,
She is a Mali. Can you tell me how often she should lay? I know she is still full of eggs. Nothing new today though. Do they often lay days apart? Yes, I guess it's late from the posts I have read... we are in Florida, I don't know if that has anything to do with it... guess they have a mind of their own, my sons pair that is.
Anymore tips are welcomed. Everything was closed today, but I will look 1st thing in the morning to find a incubator for them. Thanks a million!
Kimberly
my female laid 1 egg and then a week later she laid 8 more eggs. The first egg was yellow and shriviled up. Your female will dig like crazy during this period so i would put in a nesting box, or put in a nesting pile. For the nesting box, use a box filled with moist sand or dirt. For a nesting pile, pile sand or dirt in the cool end of the tank so she could dig a burrow for her eggs. The sand or dirt should be moist enough so if you push your finger in it there should be an inprint and that inprint should not collapse. Firmly pack the pile in the corner of the cage. These are two ways to help her lay her eggs. IF she already laid some eggs i would put a nesting pile where she laid the eggs unless you think where she laid them is unsafe. Hope everything works out.
