That's a good feeling... I went out today and picked up a couple of frozen fuzzy mice, a pair of 11" long needle nose pliers, and a candy thermometer. This evening, after things started to darken up around the house, I thawed one of the fuzzies in a baggie submerged in some hot water, and monitored the water temp with the candy thermometer. When the temp cooled to about 100 degrees F (just a little warmer than normal mouse body temp), I dangled the fuzzy in front of my ball python using the needle nose (which I had previously washed to make sure there were no residual chemicals from the manufacture process, and then covered the tips in heat shrink tubing to provide a non-abrasive surface should the snake strike and inadvertantly hit the pliers).
He showed a little interest when the mouse was dangling, but the mouse slipped from the pliers and dropped to the terrarium floor. He moved over and checked it out, and in short order picked it up and swallowed it down. First feeding accomplished without a hitch!
Whoo hoo!
