drizztice Feb 21, 2011 03:00 PM

just wondering if anyone has any experience breeding these guys. I have a male and a female in a large ebclosure the ambient temps vary between 75- 95f.
(depending on where they are in their cage.) ive got two hot spots both at around 130f and im usin a UV bulb. They have plenty of hide spots their eating well and Im interested in gettin them to breed.

Any thoughts would be apprciated!!

Hi. I found a pair of mine mating on January 27th (cell pic #1 below) and my other pair ?locked? together in a log in the same week, but I am not certain there will be any eggs now 4 weeks post and the females don't look like they're packing to me. I think in time, eggs will come, but it's taking longer than I thought. Even the Australian Odatria will mock-mate with full engaging, etc, but not produce eggs while they're growing up too, so I'll be patient....

For the most part, if your conditions are right, the varanids are healthy and are fed enough, you should see copulation. It sounds as if your conditions are good and I trust your animals are healthy. Of course there's no guarantee of success, but you've got a good shot!

Best of luck to you
