Rat breeding and new bedding material...

uf_g8or Sep 28, 2003 12:17 AM

I had switched the bedding material in my rat rack from Carefresh to Aspen shavings about a month ago. It seems like my rat production has been slower than normal...could be just really impatient on my part or that my females are getting old. Is it possible that the change of bedding could play a role in this?? Anyone ever experience this before?

Any info or advice is greatly appreciated.

I've used aspen for years with no probs.
Carefresh is great, but SO expensive! Only critter in this house that gets it is my pet hairless rat "Skinny". He gets all scratched up from shavings, lol.
Maybe they are getting a bit old. What's the temps in the room?

Take care,
Jen

The temps in the room are approximatley 70 degrees. Some are still producing others aren't as much, so maybe it is old age indeed. Thanks
