Is it normal?

nipro_style Feb 23, 2011 10:48 AM

My Pastel female was bred to my Lesser male for some time.
Nows she's going through shed (I think its a pre lay shed but not sure).
So shes always getting warmer than usual. She's sitting most of the day in the hot side of the enclosure and when I take her out of the enclosure she's really warm! Is it a sign for eggs? Is it normal that after pre lay shed she will seek warmth?

Females will often seek the cool side, bowl wrap, or even submurge themselves before ovulation to help them build folicles. Many times after ovulation they will begin coiling around the hot spot. Iv'e noticed mine go from the water dish to the hot spot over and over. I think this helpes them with the post ovulation shed since it's usually around 60 days after the preovulation shed. That's 2 quick sheds in a short amount of time for an adult snake. Hope this helps and good luck. Chris
