Male Western breeding size???

hognosedude11 Feb 23, 2011 08:04 PM

just wondering what is the smallest/youngest male anyone has bred? I have a 250+g Female heating up so she is way ready. The only 2 males i have are still rather small i.m.o the dbl het. snow is 7'' 12-14g and albino about 8" 13-15g. I would hate my female to waste this first breeding season for her. What are your guys opinions on this matter?

From the info I have found it seems that it depends a lot on the maturity of the male in question. It seems like 50 grams is about right for size(though much smaller is reported). my male in the post below is only 46 grams. I am hoping that I get some viable eggs from this pairing. Only time will tell. My guess is that your males are still to small and immature right now.The offspring I get from my female hatch out at around 7 inches.

Those males are way to small... Most of my hatchling were bigger than your males at 2 months old...

If you want the female to breed this season, I suggest you pick up a mature male... They are not hard to find and are not very expensive...
