Since I started feeding my rats my "special mix".......
Omolene 200 (recently added to the mix), Animax, Race Horse Oats, Scratch Grains, Nutro/Euk?Iams/or whatever large breed puppyor adult dog food (I get free expired bags, yippii!), they have started producing tons more babies! And they also seem to just glow with health, shiny coats, playful, active, and FERTILE! 
I've got a few mom rats going on their second year of production with no shrinking of litter size. 
I feed a main diet of Ranch Cubes (cattle food), it doesn't fit through the mesh, lol, and suppliment with a scoop of "the mix" every day while I'm doing water bottles. (Yes, with 30 cages, I still use bottles, rat soup does not appeal to me) 
Best of all though is this diet is WAY cheaper than the Mazuri and SunSeed rodent blocks that I used to use. Maybe not as cheap as an all dog food (cheapo brand of course) diet, but I think that it's healthier.
