I have no problem with having to get a herps stamp and wear reflective clothing. I hope everybody supports this.
Even if you are not a TX resident and/or have no immeadiate plans on going to TX this is a very good thing to support. CA, AZ and TX are at the forefront of herp collecting laws and there is a very real chance that other states will look to states like TX, AZ and CA as fieldherping becomes more and more popular. If TX's herp stamp program is a success other states are more likely to follow suit and open up to collecting.
Overall, a herp stamp program is probably the single biggest thing that can promote legal field collection of herps. It gives states a way to determine and track the demand side of market forces. It also "invests" the state in field collecting because it allows states to draw revenue from collecting.
Even if you are not into collecting, herps stamps promote conservation because, again, it provides a way for states to track demand and better manage populations.
