Wow the thought of a 6 gene animal blows my mind. Good luck figuring out what all hatches on that clutch. Chris

Not quite so many possibilities as you have listed. Super spinner blast, so all offspring will be at the very least pastels. That cuts down on some of the possibilities lol, but it certainly guarantees a nicer clutch. Good luck man, your animals are stellar!

would you care to tell me where i am wrong i think i broke it down properly what does everybody else think

evansnakes Mar 01, 2011 12:40 AM

Tom, if it is a super spinner blast you have to produce pastels, minimum, so no normals like you have in your list. That is all he meant. E

yes i get now since it is a super pastel all the babies will be at least pastels . i thought that even if it is a super you can still get normals in the clutch

adamjeffery Mar 01, 2011 09:09 AM

how is it you have tons of really expensive and exceptional animals and yet dont know the basics of the genetics your working with?

You aren't the only one who was wondering this. I, too, don't mean to be rude.

There’s a lot of confusion on snake genetics and the subject is getting more complicated every year. At one time I thought genetics knowledge was inversely proportional to the quality of your collection. For years I had no morphs and lots of time to read and think about them while others did the actual cleaning, feeding, and breeding (well, I had my possible hets, lol). Glad we have forums so anyone who wants can learn what’s generally known and nice that we also have enough morphs now that if you can afford it you don’t have to make all your own. Come to think of it I’ve still only bought one proven visual morph, a cinnamon male, but if I had the budget I’d probably go crazy and buy a male multiple het, maybe even 100% on some genes…

wohlerswi Mar 01, 2011 12:23 PM

Thanks Evan, yeah thats all I meant. Hotdog! I was actually trying to compliment you, and make your day a little nicer by telling you that you could only get a minimum of pastels no normals. When a super is bred to any animal it passes on one copy of each gene. You really have to look at supers the same as recessives in order to understand them. Consider any animal that is co-dominate a het for the super form. So a pastel is really het for super pastel. When you breed the super pastel to say a normal every animal will be "het" for super pastel i.e. a clutch full of pastels. It works the same with all supers. Hoe this helps man.

yes it helps but i was really hoping to make more normal colored snakes making all supers seems to wash out alot of the color and i totally forgot that when is super is bred to a normal all the offspring are pastels i guess i was just not paying attention and you know what i dont think i am going to post any more i think i should just concentrate on my breeding and for not knowing my gentics i think i did a good job at what i produced. and i dont think i will post any more thanks and take care

zippy00_99 Mar 02, 2011 10:37 AM

I sure hope your not serious. If you are, then poor you for letting these people get to you.

raspoptsis Mar 03, 2011 12:30 AM

yes i was serious, but now that more snakes are locking up i think i might just have to post a few more in the near future and thanks everybody for the comments and good luck to every one breeding

magicalmorphs Feb 28, 2011 09:25 PM

I meant looking at what hatches and knowing what it is. With so many possibilities it's hard to know (for a fact) that you know what you have. That's a problem I'd LOOOOOOOOOVE to have. You have an outstanding collection. Best of luck on your season. Chris

AGoldReptiles Mar 01, 2011 06:34 AM

What a great pairing! Good luck on your breeding. You have some amazing animals.
