My baby T-rat

varanid Feb 27, 2011 11:29 PM

He's a bit weird about handling--can be bitey, can be calm, pretty unpredictable at this point. About 18" or so? He'll be moving to a larger tub soon, and I plan for him to eventually live in a 3x2x2 cage (maybe bigger if he gets giant).

I like it now but it should turn out to be really nice. A 3x2x2 should be great for the adult especially if you can let it out a bit for a stretch.

don't know about letting him out; he's a bit unpredictable. I'll probably wind up trying to set up a small or mid sized display tank for him; I've seen them as display animals before and they seem to display well.

Little turd bit me 4-5 times taking those pictures

There's old shed stuck to the broken crock piece that's his hide; I can't get the stuff off. I've tried everything short of steel wool (which I'm afraid I'd wind up breaking it with that). Any ideas?

Yeah, I've noticed many times that shed can virtually be "glued" on quite tightly to bowls, but soaking them in water has always loosened them enough to rub off easily enough with the rough scour side of a sponge for dishes.

Nice little T-rat man!....well, nice "looking" anyway..LOL!

Yep, nice looking! Doug Ya know, little biters are fun but ...heck they're all fun, big or small! Gotta love the drama

As for the shed, maybe a little mineral oil would ease it up if let stand a bit.
