S. Fla. man charged with killing alligator
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- A South Florida man says an alligator found shot in the head in the back of his pickup truck was given to him by a co-worker.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has charged Calvin Lee Devol Jr. with killing an alligator without a license.
A wildlife officer reported finding the animal shot in the head, wrapped in plastic and covered in ice in the bed of Devol's truck Nov. 16, more than two weeks after the end of Florida's recreational alligator hunting season.

Devol tells The Palm Beach Post that he didn't kill the alligator. The 29-year-old Belle Glade construction worker says a co-worker gave it to him.
Devol posted $9,000 bond Saturday. He's also accused of stealing the truck. It was unclear why authorities waited to charge him.
