Manila, Philippines: Two children drowned after chasing a turtle in a river in Barotac Viejo, Iloilo province, Tuesday morning.
The victims were identified as Shane Aguijitas, 8 and her 5-year-old brother, Jhen, residents of Sitio Nangka, Barangay Dela Peña.
A resident named Rokie Kamingay said the siblings were chasing a turtle when the incident happened around 9 a.m.
Kamingay said that the siblings chased the turtle up to the deepest part of the river.
The children's bodies were later found by residents floating on the river.
The victims' father, Joel, said he was away when the incident happened.
