THE HOUR (Norwalk, Connecticut) 27 February 11 Gator aid: Reptile rescued after Craigslist ad
Syosset, N.Y. (AP): A New York man is facing charges he tried to sell an alligator he advertised on an online Web site.
Authorities say Khang A. Vo of Syosset was arrested by the Suffolk County SPCA at a Long Island Expressway park-and-ride on Thursday night. They say he attempted to sell the alligator to undercover detectives who saw the advertisement on Craigslist.
He was charged with possession of a dangerous animal. He posted $250 bail and is due back in court April 4. There was no telephone listing for Vo at the address provided by the SPCA.
Authorities say the 1-foot-long, year-old alligator is being cared for by Suffolk SPCA and will be released to an out-of-state reptile sanctuary. Investigators are trying to determine where the alligator came from.
