feeding problem!

kennny Sep 28, 2003 07:26 AM

hi everyone, my friend recently bought a hatchling corn as hs first snake and he's feeding well, the problem is the last time he fed he digested quite a large piece of wood chipping (a square piece) which is clearly sticking out on his underside. it doesnt seem to bother him unless its touched, will he digest it or does my friend need to take him to the vet?

many thanks

I would take him to the vet if it were my little Ed. Also, next time you feed him, do it in a seperate container (I use the deli container that I brought him home in from the breeders's show, someone has also recommended brown paper bags) that way, they don't risk ingesting wood chips (you are using aspen or cyprus right? no pine or cedar allowed--they can be fatal to reptiles).

Anyone else got any thing better to help them more immediately?

Good luck...let us know how it goes!

thanks for your response, i spoke to my friend who decided after a further 24 hours to take him to vet but when the checked him in the morning the lump had gone! they waited a further day and feed (in a seperate box) him which was all fine and he seems perfectly ok and back to his active self!

many thanks for your help,

kenny
