How Big Of Rat For Adult Ball??

Johnstud56 Mar 03, 2011 02:41 PM

I plan on buying an adult albino ball python in the next few months.... the main question will be how big of rats does an adult get? They list them inch wise on rodentpro.com but im not quite sure how big to order. Also, one more question, I have a custom tank thats 48" wide... 25" deep & 36" tall... for night light would a 250 watt ceramic heater be good for him? I cant do a UTH becuase the tank sits on the floor and is wood also.

2 things: 1) An adult ball python is vague! I would say buy med. to be safe at first!
2) How do you know it will accept frozen/thawed?

I always buy hopper to medium rats.....I hate trying to feed large ones.....and I have had some huge balls....

they digest slow enough and take everything there is from the prey items....some people throw large rats every week or more...they get BIG balls...with itty bitty heads and too much fat in them.......they also get a large pile of not 100% digested fecal matter every week or two.....more than needed...

....anyways.....as the other person said...some people's adult is 800 grams while others is 3800 grams....and more...

...medium at most to start
