Of all the Pits, I get the most enthused, have the most admiration for, etc., the Sonoran gophers. Last October, I found this neonate while hiking along an ATV trail near home. Irresistible little rascal! What say YOU?

He is a very good example of a Sonoran. So I guess you can find these out in your neck of the woods; sweet! I am always finding Pacific gophers in my area.

Very nice Sonoran. I wouldn't mind hiking in my area and finding those.

I guess I'll have to settle for mid Illinois bulls come spring.

Hey Thanks Guys! With our interests, it is very good fortune to live well with the geographic range of the Pituophis, especially your favorite Pit. I have had the good fortune to live within the ranges of P.c. catenifer, deserticola affinis and P.m. melanoleucus.

Currently, my neck of the "woods" consists of saguaro, palo verde, ironwood, ocotillo, brittlebush, bursage and cholla. Not smack dab in the middle of affinis range but good enough. Scenes like this around the house and property are pleasantly common during the spring, summer and early fall.
