Blooding during defecation

Seeves1982 Mar 05, 2011 07:37 AM

My pastel had blood streaks on her bedding after defection on the 2/26. It wasn't a large amount just a spot on the paper. I called the breeder and he said that he's never had a problem like that and just to keep the cage real clean and observe the animal. There hasn't been any bleeding since then, but the animal also hasn't pooped. The animal seems to be fine. When I fed her on 2/27 I noticed that she is now in shed, which I've read that it can be common for a snake to be hard on themselves during shed and cause bleeding from the vent, but I assumed that it would be after the shedding process. Can anyone give me a little insight as to what might be going on.. My best guess is that she just had a really big poop and maybe tore something a little bit.

Thanks

If your pastel is a female, she might be scenting. Some females do that during breeding season. If it is a male, I have no clue what it could be.

It actually is a female, but she's young under a year and only about 165g. Is it still possible?

I have never seen that at such a young age. Maybe someone with more experience can shed some light on your query.
