That's an amazing combination of kingsnake pics. It showcases the diversity within the species very well. I especially like how their head shape and face are different from each other. They're all exceptional animals.

Thanks man.....I guess that's why Kingsnakes ARE Kings!

Speaking of head shapes......I've even noticed different head shapes within a subspecies depending on locality.......

Also...related to head shapes......What do you think the solid black snake is? Getula, Triangulum or Mexicana?

If that solid black snake is an MBK, then it's a getula. Maybe i don't understand your question? I'm a newbie heh heh.

yes it is an MBK....but I have some melanistic thayeri (L. mexicana thayeri) here that are solid black as well. They are visually distinguishable by head shape......
Then there are solid black L. triangulum gaigeae......Black Milk Snakes.....also visually distinguishable by head shape.....

At least that is how I can tell them apart......LOL

Yeah, that must be tricky to tell them apart. You probably need good lighting too. I think i've even seen melanistic cal kings advertised around here before.

Great looking group as always John. How about a full body shot of the ax splendida?
