Yearling Subocs, questions about feeding

Nokturnel Tom May 26, 2003 04:21 PM

Greetings. I am the proud owner of a pair of Axanthic Blonde Subocs, they are Envy Reptiles stock and are very nice looking. The female is much bigger than the male[cool!] but the male is at least close to 24 inches. They're still very thin[like they're supposed to be], both have eaten and seem to be in great shape. I want them to grow up fast but do not want to overfeed them. The female is eating large fuzzies and the male is eating large pinkies. Should I try and get them to eat larger food items? Or maybe 2 or 3 smaller ones? I don't want to overdo it and have regurge set in. They are eating about once a week. Any input is appreciated. Thanks Tom

Different folks have different opinions, but I'm much more a fan of feeding smaller prey items more often than one large prey item less often.

Congrats on aquiring such an awsome pair of snakes. Sounds like you are doing things right. I am also in favor of small more frequent meals as opossed to large meals. I have 2.3 adult normals and a yearling. The yearling I feed a couple fuzzies once a week and she is growing at a nice rate.

Good luck with your new charges....

Howdy. Actually Tim, Jason, and Jesse have been over before. I expect Troy to stop by eventually. I don't really have room for everyone at once but a few at a time is cool. I have my new room mapped out and will set it up soon. For now it is a bit of a challenge to move in here without bumping into something. I am getting a digi cam soon. After that it's pic mania. Shoot me an email at NokturnelEclipse@aol.com and I will send a few I just scanned. C ya Tom
