Leaving tonight

Jason W Sep 28, 2003 09:58 AM

Well I leave tonight for my last trip of the year before all the wonderful herps go to sleep. I am heading to cat creek, California. I will be leaving at 11pm tonight in hopes to get an early start in the morning. I am out to track down an Alligator lizard we caught and observed the last time we were there. This lizard is special do to its markings, they were so that I have never observed before. I am hoping to find it and document it and hopefully it is still in as good health as when we left it. Do to the fact that one of my research snake escaped and has gone missing in action "C. King" I will be out to collect a new one as well. Wish me luck I will post a full report when I get home hopefully some time Monday night.

Well I failed to collect the individuals I was out for. At about 5pm Sunday night a began to feel sick. By the time I got to cat creek at 130am I felt very sick. I woke up at 6am and prepared all my gear. I left the car at about 8am and only hiked out about 4 miles to the site were we observed the abnormal S. Alligator lizard. I was unable to locate it and at this time my illness was getting a lot worse so I hiked back to the car and came home. I may try to plan the trip again for next week when I am feeling better but we will have to wait and see.
