Turtles and Frogs

cyclonegirl Sep 28, 2003 11:06 AM

I own a frog and wanted to know if I can put a turtle in with him. The turtle I am looking at is small and I have about a square space a foot by a foot. It is a 3 inches deep. There is a land section about the same size for my frog. Can they share the water and the land(if he goes on the land). Would it work?
Thanks,
Cyclone Girl

No, you cannot house them together. Most frogs are toxic, and your turtle would try to eat him, so you could end up with two dead animals. Besides that, there are no turtle species which stay small enough to live in a space that small for very long.

I'd concentrate on getting the turtle out of hatchling stage first. They can be quite delicate at that age (I assume it's tiny), but can grow to decent size quite quickly if kept correctly. You may very well decide you have your hands full enough with the turtle.

Peter: It's OK, I'll handle it. I read a book about something like this.
Brian: Are you sure it was a book? Are you sure it wasn't NOTHING?

That frog will be toast. The turtle will most definitely try to eat him.
