While i think its great another book is coming out, and that i will end up buying it anyways. How will it differ at all, from John Berrys latest Designer Morphs book? Other than to including 2011 morphs?

that is will be different from John's book.
I personally have many mutations that I have never put on my website and described as well as so many other mutations out there.
I will of course add some content too.

As an example non of my mutations made it into his book....

John asked for them but I was just so incredibly busy with other things I never submitted any...
Just look at the world of Ball Pythons website.... I basically neglect to even update stuff there due to my own distractions and failures. Great site, but bad neglectful EVILMORPHGOD. This book basically forces me into getting "with the program"!

Thanks - Kevin

please make sure the text and pic are in somewhat of a better order than some books....pic of amel...text in front of you of pastel...turn page...text of amel...pic of butter...turn page text of butter ...pic of ....>.
you get it...not sure which book it was...but all they had to do was move averything one page from the start and the total book would have made a better read.....

thanks.............

..........balls , retics...we all need a new "sectional" update every year now on the morphs....(even tokays?)

Good Luck!!!......

Hopefuly this was not my book...

Generally the order can be tough...trying to make it flow. I think this will have the picture and basic description on the same page. SO, each page has a morph.

WHat cn be confusing what to group the combos under.. Pin or spider.....SPider or pastel.... that kind of stuff...so it may be a bit random but I need to take a shot at this before it is too late...well, it may already be too late!

Yep, all all critters besides balls deserve some limelight for sure. I seriously have a problem with time and not being able to do some of the basic things I need to get done. Like all my mutations on my own website....

Dreadful1!

Kevin

....groupings...yep....when you think you have a system you think of a different way to group........

Good Luck.......

Order it by single mutation, double, triple, quad, etc also you can order by recessive, double recessive, etc. would make it easier to flip through and you can also keep certain projects secret by not saying exactly what co-dom/recessive traits they have just put it in a seperate section saying it has X amount of traits.

EvilMorphgod Mar 11, 2011 08:36 AM

That makes good sense......

Yep!

Kev,
also if you follow that route....single, double, triple, quad.....i think you should have a notation on the bottom of that page with page numbers pointing back to other combos that use that particular morph(s).

if you ever used the CFR 49 book you would understand what i'm talking about. that book is linked pages to pages......you can find what you want fast!

what's so tiresome is trying to flip through a hundred so pages trying to find one particular thing.

hope what i wrote makes any sense....

here is an idea I had. for instance if the morph was a pastel enchi pinstripe then put a photo of each of the traits going into the morph in the top 3 boxes and the combo at the bottom. along with the smaller pics of the snakes you can put a page number with them showing where you can get more info on that morph. such as if there is a super form, origin, etc.

jackjebus Mar 11, 2011 06:47 AM

also since there has been some debate lately with super being considered being a double trait you can put a killer bee and a bumble bee on the same page.

for that matter since lesser, mojave, butter and whatever other morphs are out there that make BELs have the BEL on one page or as a main photo and have the ones that make it on the other side or have the bel like a big picture surrounded by the small pics

Why not include the other care and husbandry info. Make 1 complete book. I would appreciate it. I'm sure others would too.

the more I think about it it will have text for sure!!!

In fact it would be nice to hear what people want to see in this book besides the mutations...

Yep..... there is going to be text too!

one think i would love to hear more about, is where the morph originated from. We all know the stories behind the animals like the pied, pinstripe, albino etc. But i would love to hear more info on the other base mutations.
Ie wild caught adult? CH baby? popped up in a captive clutch etc etc
It seems many morphs, have whole stories about how they came to be in our industry.

cheers

Long as you're taking content/format suggestions, stick with the size of your last book -- not a fan of the coffee table variety (just too cumbersome), and stay away from small font, low contrast captions (hard on older eyes). Far as husbandry, you pretty much covered that last time, but if there were, say, some deep/dark breeding secrets you would choose to share...

Been hoping you would come out with a sequel for a long time!

I can't wait to see the new book. Hopefully I am fortunate enough to produce something this season worthy of going in the book. My new girl I got from you is doing great by the way.

I have read 90% of all of the "big" books, and none of them mention the different things that can happen using different substrate. For instance, I have used aspen, but I get black mold under the water bowls almost immediately, but others have no problems. You could mention why some substrates work for some people and not others. My guess is because I don't put enough aspen in my bin as opposed to others who put a lot, and they don't get the mold. I don't know if this is so, but it is just a guess, and would LOVE to be able to read a book that tells reasons why different substrates work for different people. I tried using cypress mulch, and I got that spider-web looking mold where my balls defecate. Also, I have noticed that the balls in my "deep" rack eat better than the ones in the horizontal type, and I think that has a lot to due with too much light for them to feel secure. Little things like these drive hobbyists nuts, so, just something to think about.

imridethelghtng Mar 12, 2011 05:00 AM

My opinion as you said this is just a companion book, So a morph guide would be good enough. For text you could maybe do a little story behind the morph. Kinda like you did with your original complete ball python book. Where you said stuff like at first no one wanted to buy the ghost balls, or where you bred the pastel and got all normals. Stuff like that but there are already tons of ball python care books out there. Yours the Barkers, One by John Coborn, One by Philipe De Vosjoli. Breeders post caresheets on their websites, But you never find a up to date morph guide. And alot of morphs the new guys just getting into the hobby don't know how to make. You write humblebee some of the new guys wont know what it is. You say combination of pastel, spider, ghost it helps the new guys. But I do enjoy when you added little stories with the morphs you produced yourself.

For me I don't think husbandry info needs to be in there as there are other books like your previous one that focus on it. I would like to see multiple pics of each morph if available to see the variation. As for 'older' morphs like Bumblebee and Lemon Blast I would definitely like pics of the adults.

Thanks,
Dan
