Pic of my normal. The reason for all 9 of my dragons.

Mattman Sep 28, 2003 11:36 AM

This is my precious girl Amber. Amber was my first dragon, and the reason for all my others. Amber was a pet store dragon, and my first ever. Poor Amber came to me ill from a local Pet Smart. She now is two years old, and pretty much shows no ill effects from her disease. She grew to a respectful 20 inches and 525 grams even with an illness. Thank God for that. She has taught me so much over the years I had her. I nursed her many times back to health, and because of her, I can pretty much just look at my others and read how they feel by looking at them. She just means so much to me. Most of my others came from private breeders, and all are mostly from high colored lines, not because I love normals any less, but just what most reputable breeders are working with. She started my love for this species, and because of her, I now have 9 beautiful soon to be 10, healthy dragons. This year was Amber's first time having infertile eggs. She does not breed for me because of her illness, not because she is a normal. I would have loved to have some of her babies this year. I just would never wish the hard times I've had with her on anybody. This is my precious Amber. Hope you like her.

This is Amber getting ready to lay her eggs.

Just thought I would show a pic of how I set up her laying bin for others to get an idea when there females are ready. It's just a Rubbermaid bin. I angled top soil, and sand mixture on one end. The dirt is actually pretty moist to allow a hole to be dug without it caving in on her. I had two clamp lights angled at her mound. She laid her eggs at about 7 PM when soil temps were about 85 degrees.

are not well become more bonded to us as we do learn much from them and have to take special care.

Dayton our Sanfire Ranch baby that has gout has always been very special and very bonded to us. He is such a character and we have spoiled him a lot I guess. He was not suppose to see his first Birthday, but that went by that a few months ago.

He is funny, he will ONLY eat crickets out of a purple bowl.... it HAS to be purple and when he wants crickets he goes and stands at his bowl and looks at us. We fill it up then he eats, but we have to put the bowl back after we empty it. Once we lost it and tried several bowls, tubs, another tank, putting them lose..... he refused to eat and you now how many stores we went to looking for a purple ceramic bowl!!!!

Thanks heavens we found it after about 4 days, he would have starved to death! Dayton is like a little old man, he has very knotty toes joints and take medication daily. He is also very lazy and loves his christyj Hammock!

That's funny cheri about the bowl. Yeah they sure do know how too scare the hell out of us, lol, and at the same time find that place in your heart for ever.
