pyromaniac Mar 11, 2011 10:07 AM

My friend John was getting mice from a lady in the Valley but she had to close down her entire mousery because of a bed bug infestation. Well, I have heard if mice getting infested with lice and mites, but BEDBUGS?!? Am wondering if my friend heard this right, or what.

I had a wave of what looked like mites years ago, but they were harmless. It was some kind of wood mite that doesn't effect reptiles. I wasn't comforted by that fact though. I had a tough time ridding the colony of these pest, but I haven't seen them since! I think they came in on the woodchips.

Very possible he heard correctly... bed bugs like most any other blood sucking critter do not feed exclusively on humans, any thing warm blooded suits them. Bed bugs don't even feed primarily on humans... they just get a bad wrap because when nothing else is available and they are focusing on us they nest near where the food source is... beds, chairs, couches etc.

If your friend has been picking up live rodents from her I'd tell him to keep an eye out around his place for awhile, bed bugs get from point "a" to point "b" as hitchhikers.
